Buffalo Youth in Motion (BYIM) seeks to encourage refugee students in Buffalo to embrace their histories and cultures by empowering them to tell the stories they are passionate about through the medium of film.  Using video allows images to speak as powerfully as words, which can be freeing for students for whom English is a second language.  It is our hope that by teaching a relevant skill to our students and by giving them a medium to express themselves freely, they will begin to gain confidence not only in the realm of digital video but also in their study of English and in the rest of their education.
